Ingredients and Functions:
EPA (C20:5): It is commonly called "blood cleaner". It is capable of preventing the aggregation of platelets, reducing the blood pressure and blood cholesterol. Therefore EPA is highly evaluated for its function in prevention and treatment of atherosclerotic heart disease including coronary heart disease, acute myocardinal infarction, stroke, hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases.
DHA (C22:6): It is commonly called "gold of brain". It is essential for the development and execution of the function of the brain and optical nerve, so it has an appreciable effect on the development of children’s quotient of intelligence (I.Q.). For the adults, lack of DHA can accelerate the deteriorating of brain function, and may be involved in the etiology of senile degeneration brain disorder, such as senile dementia.
DPA (C22:5): DPA is found at a high concentration in the human milk and seal oil and very little in fish oil and other foods. DPA improves the immune function of the human body, thus resulting in prevention and treatment of many different kSupers of immunological diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, allergy, psoriasis, asthma, lupus and diabetes mellitus.
SQUALENE and Vitamin E: Anti-oxidants. They play an important role in preserving smoothness and elasticity of the skin and have the function of anti-aging and anti-cancers.
HYDROPHOBIC ACTIVE SUBSTANCES: Hydrophobic active substances are highly effective to improve the immune function and regulate the secretion of insulin. Hydrophobic active substances in Harp Seal Omega-3 products can prevent and cure rheumatoid arthritis, lupus as well as diabetes.
Why human body needs Omega-3?
For humans, there are two essential fatty acids, omega-3 linolenic acid and omega-6 linoleic acid. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids compete with each other to regulate almost all aspects of metabolism in order to maintain metabolic balance. The optimal ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 in the diet should be at least 4 to 1. In other words, for every 4 parts of omega-6, we need 1 part of omega-3. All common vegetable oils are overly rich in omega-6 except olive oil. The average ratio is more like 20 to 1, in favour of omega-6. Such a grossly lop-sided ratio is now considered a major unbalancing factor in the North American epidemic in cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, high triglyceride, obesity, and adult-onset diabetes (90% of diabetics). This 20 to 1 ratio is also considered to be a risk factor for cancer promotion.
