Banff and Lake Louise,Canada

Banff National Park has 6,641 sq. km of mountains, forests, rivers and lakes that is the habitat to abundant wildlife. Banff, Alberta is situated in Canada's first National Park 128 km (80 miles) west of Calgary just inside the east gate of the Park. The world famous Lake Louise is 58 km (35 mi.) further west of Banff. Explore the diversity and natural beauty of this World Heritage Site

Canada's first national park is a salute to some of the world's most spectacular scenery. But this 6,641-square-kilometre swath of beauty is more than just a pretty visual. The park's vast wilderness is home to deer, moose, elk, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, black and grizzly bears.

But Banff Canada is only one component of a complex geological and natural area that consists of four adjacent national parks that together have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Today, Banff National Park attracts about eight million visitors annually, many of whom never stray from the townsite that goes by the same name. There's plenty to do in town - from spa-going to shopping and dining to getting a sense of its intriguing history at spots such as the Whyte Museum, the Luxton Museum and the Banff Centre (a hub of fine art).
